It has been rumoured for the last few days, and now it has been confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be added to Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate on July 24th. It marks a big step for the subscription service, and highlights what people are to expect with the new tiers for Xbox Game Pass just around the corner.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s release on Game Pass is not subject to the new Game Pass tiers, which are expected to be launched in the next couple of months. If you missed the news about the tier changes, you can see a breakdown of them below.
Any one with a current Xbox Game Pass for Console subscription will be able to continue paying with recurring billing for the foreseeable future and still have access to the current offering – the $10.99 / £8.99 price will also continue. This includes day one games and the full Xbox Game Pass catalogue, but Xbox Game Pass for Console does not include Xbox online multiplayer, cloud gaming or PC Game Pass.
In our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 review, Gareth said, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 isn’t an outright bad game, but it’s also not a particularly good one. Taken on its own, it’s a slightly above average first person shooter with a poor campaign, but in context, you can see how hurried and limited in scope this game really is. The multiplayer is effectively a classic map pack, Zombies and Open Combat Missions are game modes built within the existing Warzone map, and the campaign’s pacing and story come up short. It all adds up to a lacklustre experience and even a sense that Call of Duty is at risk of losing its identity.”
