Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has teased details about the developing romance between her character Penelope and Colin (Luke Newton). Season 2 of the hit period drama is set to premiere on Netflix on March 25 with eight episodes. Bridgerton is produced by Shonda Rhimes, creator of long-running hits like Grey's Anatomy andthe recent Scandal, and the founder of the production company Shondaland.
Bridgerton, based on a series of novels by Julia Quinn, follows the titular Bridgerton family through London's social season in the competitive Regency Era, where debutantes are presented at court for arranged marriages. The series boasts a diverse cast, presented as an alternate version of history in which England is racially integrated and people of color are granted titles by the sovereign. Bridgerton season 2 is expected to adapt the second book in the series, «The Viscount Who Loved Me,» and focus on a new romance for Anthony, after season 1 centred on Daphne and the Duke of Hastings.
