Hyrule's downfall 100 years before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is predicated on a prophecy that seems to have been misinterpreted. Although the prophecy would eventually come to fruition after Link's resurrection, it came at the cost of an untold number of lives. This twisting of fate is oddly similar to the Jedi's prophecy of the Chosen One in Star Wars, where the course of events took much longer to transpire than anticipated, resulting in unexpected disaster.
Star Wars' prequel films revolve around a prophecy which claims a very powerful Jedi will emerge to bring balance to the Force by eradicating the Sith. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn believes the Chosen One to be Anakin Skywalker, a boy on Tatooine with an incredibly high midi-chlorian count. Star Wars' prequel Jedi wield an incredible amount of power and influence, only being threatened by a small number of emerging Sith. While the Jedi Council had trepidations about training Anakin, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Kenobi believed Anakin was the Chosen One. The prophecy appeared to be false when Anakin swore fealty to Darth Sidious and purged the Jedi Temple during the execution of Order 66.
