Bo Burnham releases a 63 minute video of outtakes from his Netflix specialInside. The special was released on Netflix on May 30, 2021, and features songs and scenes all created by Burnham between March 2020 and May 2021. Like the rest of the world, Burham was stuck in lockdown for the better part of these months as the COVID-19 pandemic raged on, giving the special its title: Inside.
Inside’s May 2021 release came over a year into the pandemic, as the monotonous feeling of being stuck inside was still fresh for Burnham's viewers the world over. The special featured a wide-ranging mixture of songs, all styled with Burnham’s irreverent comedic approach. Inside's songs ranged from more direct social commentary — including a song about Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos through jazz mockup “Unpaid Intern”— to more intimate pieces about individual experiences with the pandemic. The latter included “FaceTime with My Mom (Tonight)” and Burnham’s personalized ballad “30,” which centers around his existential anxiety about his upcoming birthday.

Now, Burnham has released an hour-long video of outtakes from Inside titled THE INSIDE OUTTAKES. Taking to Twitter before the outtakes' release, the creator/performer revealed that he had spent the last two months editing the video. THE INSIDE OUTTAKES include rejected versions of songs from Inside, lower-quality version of songs pre-sound mix, and even deleted songs that didn’t make the final cut. Burnham uploaded the video to his YouTube channel, the same channel where he got his start in comedy and music 15 years ago.
