Video games based on the tabletop games have been hit-and-miss over the years. The promise of wasn't quite met with the final product thanks to a stuttering launch, although there is still cautious optimism that will match the success of its predecessor. On the fantasy side of things, however, things look a little lighter with from developer Cyanide.
is, as the name suggests, the third installment in the series from Cyanide, and will hopefully build upon the previous two iterations. is the light-hearted spin-off to the fantasy game , with a brutal take on American Football replacing the tactical war gaming of the core franchise. The former entries have been solid adaptations of the game, and looks to continue the trend based on its latest preview build.

It's a good thing too, as there's slightly more stiff opposition for the fantasy side of when it comes to video game adaptations. Recent releases have ranged from the unspectacular if enjoyable through to the tactical masterclasses of the series, which has somehow outlived the setting of its tabletop counterpart. itself is a niche spin-off, but that doesn't stop it from being an awful lot of fun.
is a turn-based sports game, with the player taking control of a team of fearsome sportspeople (or sports-monsters) to bring glory through sport and gore. Although its rule system and gameplay could feel complex, Cyanide has done a good job of adapting the tabletop game in a way that remains accessible to newcomers. Even though this is the third game from Cyanide, that doesn't stop from being a game that new players can pick up, at least based on this preview example of what the full game will entail.
