A new survival game from Blizzard Entertainment, part of a brand-new original property, has been announced. The developer is known for crafting several beloved video game franchises, including Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft and Overwatch. Recently Microsoft purchased publisher Activision Blizzard, giving the Xbox creator ownership of Blizzard's entire repertoire of popular gaming series.
With a number of beloved franchises under its belt, Blizzard has been able to build up a very large fanbase of gamers over the years. However, recent controversy involving Activision Blizzard's treatment of its female employees, including an ongoing lawsuit, has led to negative press for the company and its titles. The team-based hero shooter Overwatch has gone months without a substantial update, with Blizzard apparently shifting all attention towards the development of upcoming sequel Overwatch 2. Another upcoming title, Diablo IV, will act as a follow-up to 2013's action role-playing game Diablo 3. Blizzard delayed Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV back in November 2021, leading to a lull in new projects from the esteemed developer.
