One of the big drawbacks to becoming a Hulk is the lack of weapons in Marvel Comics. But for Blade, this simple change would have unlocked his full potential.
In the Ultimate Universe, a more brutal alternate universe based around the Ultimate comics, Carol Danvers and Nick Fury eventually clashed with their respective superhero teams. Fury had a black ops, off-the-books group called the Avengers that handled all the dirty missions the US government couldn't have any involvement with. Specifically, that meant the United States's public superhero team of the Ultimates, which Danvers was in charge of. In reality, it was actually Tony Stark's brother that set the two teams against each other.

When the real threat was revealed, in Ultimate Avengers vs. New Ultimates #5 by Mark Millar and Leinil Yu, Nick Fury wanted to give his group of Ultimate Avengers an advantage. He did this by procuring a batch of pills from Bruce Banner's mentor. These pills essentially gave people the ability to transform into a Hulk. What was special about these pills, though, is that they allow someone to have the Hulk strength and durability while keeping their intellect. After every one of the Avengers took a pill, which included Hawkeye, Punisher, War Machine, and Blade, they all essentially became one big team of Hulks. Unfortunately, the Ultimate Avengers did not retain their weapons after their transformations. So the vampire hunter Blade was fighting with fists rather than his trademark sword.
