Mangaka Yūki Tabata has once again brought a minor and weak Black Clover character into the spotlight by giving them a crucial role in defeating a powerful foe — and this time it's against Lucifero the King of Devils.
In chapter 323, the Black Bulls member and peasant Zora Ideale jumps in front of Asta to cast a sealing form of magic called Secret Counter Trap Magic X on Lucifero. Although readers have yet to witness what effect the spell will have, the name evokes an earlier moment in Black Clover when Zora taught another peasant, Magna Swing of the Black Bulls, how to create a spell that has a tremendous effect on the powerful Dark Triad member Dante, shattering a stagnant shonen formula in the process.

As peasants, Zora and Magna must put in much more effort for far lesser outcomes than mages of higher upbringing, including nobles, royalty, and even commoners. Magna learned this the hard way by being forced to work with weaker runes for a six-month period to create a spell that he could only cast once. The end result was incredible, however, because in chapter 293, Magna's one-time spell lowers the powerful Dante down to his level, and Magna defeats him — which culminates in the Dark Triad member's death. Fans are undoubtedly excited to see this same type of dynamic play out again with Zora.
