Warning! Spoilers for Black Adam #1 by DC Comics
DC's new Black Adam series opens with a bang, as the titular antihero fights Darkseid in a battle between two of the strongest characters in the DC Universe. However, the encounter ends with a clear winner and the death of Darkseid, as Black Adam realizes that the villain's minion Desaad is playing tricks on him and that he never actually fought the real version of the Ruler of Apokolips.
In his new DC Comics series, Black Adam is dying, as the magical antihero has been infected with some sort of necrosis from an incurable plague. But, before Teth-Adam's death, he will be reaching out to his descendent Malik to transfer his powers to him. The new champion will attempt to resurrect Black Adam, but considering all the evil he's done before a more recent turn towards heroism, Malik will question whether bringing him back is right. However, before Black Adam kicks the bucket in the comics, he's facing off against Darkseid in an epic fight.

In Black Adam #1 by Christopher Priest, Rafa Sandoval, Matt Herms, and Willie Schubert, Black Adam faces off against Darkseid as the supervillain tries to get the antihero to join him on a path of darkness. Black Adam declines his offer, saying, «I am the life!.. you dark lord, are the anti-life!» Then, using the powers of Shazam!, Black Adam strikes Darkseid with several thunderous blows that leave his opponent gravely wounded. Darkseid dies in the fight as his minion Desaad cries out to his dead master.
However, Darkseid's defeat in the fight by Black Adam isn't as it seems. Teth-Adam admits that Darkseid could never be so easily defeated as such a decisive win is
