When a player starts a new game (or new game plus) of Elden Ring, their Tarnished protagonist swiftly enters into a land ravaged by war, a once-prosperous realm torn apart by the armies of Demigods wielding the power of Great Runes. In every land players explore, they can find military encampments with feral foot soldiers, each wearing surcoats with the colors and crests of the Demigod nobles they once served.
