Benedict Cumberbatch used the ranching skills he acquired on The Power of the Dog to save a family from a herd of cattle.The English actor is best known for his role as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer Doctor Strange. His most recent appearance came in this past year's Spider-Man: No Way Home as the culprit who starts the movie's multiversal mess with a botched spell at the behest of Peter Parker (Tom Holland). Strange will now have to deal with the consequences of his actions in his next solo outing, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, slated for this spring.
In the meantime, Cumberbatch is once again enjoying recognition from the Academy for his performance as the skillful yet brutish rancher Phil Burbank in Jane Champion's The Power of the Dog. Netflix's Western has been showered with the most Oscar nominations of any film this year (12), including nods for Cumberbatch and the real-life couple, Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst, who play newlyweds George Burbank and Rose Gordon, whose marriage kicks off the film's conflict. Cumberbatch's character has a knack for tormenting everyone around him, though his ranching skills are undeniable, which recently came in handy for the actor while he was on vacation.
