Chef Ryan McKeown has made a splash with fans on Below Deck Down Under season 1 and has quickly become the villain of the season. He is shown having squabbles with two fan favorites, Captain Jason Chambers and the only returning cast member from the franchise, Aesha Scott. The chef and chief stew have had several disagreements on how they treat their primary charter guests, but there is no doubt that Chef Ryan knows how to bring the drama to Below Deck Down Under.
From Below Deck Down Under's explosive trailer, it was clear that Chef Ryan had very strong opinions about his kitchen and that he was passionate about doing things his way. Despite Aesha hoping they would be one cohesive interior dream team, that quickly fell through when they could not agree over how to communicate with the primaries. While Aesha wanted to let the guests know what they would be having ahead of dinner, Chef Ryan shut that down because he did not want there to be a chance that the guests said no to his meal choice.

According to Chef Ryan's LinkedIn, he attended Penn State University to learn about the management side of the food industry and has used that to market his culinary skills. Since 2014, Below Deck Down Under's Chef Ryan has had a series of restaurant jobs in Maine, working first for The Gothic Restaurant as a sous chef. He then worked for celebrity chef Matthew Kenney and later spent a year at Ocean Properties Hotels until 2018. Chef Ryan currently calls Miami, Florida, home when he is not at sea with the Below Deck Down Under crew.
