Warning! Spoilers for Batman/Superman: World's Finest #2 by DC Comics
The Doom Patrol is returning to the pages of DC Comics in an upcoming crossover with Batman and Superman — however, everything isn't as it appears. In an exclusive preview of Batman/Superman's World's Finest #2, DC's greatest heroes are heading to the home base of Niles Caulder and the Doom Patrol. However, things will quickly go awry, as Batman will try to discover why Superman is suffering from «freakish transformations.»
The Doom Patrol is one of DC Comics' most iconic superteams, as the gang of misfits was assembled by the Chief, Niles Caulder. The original team, created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani, debuted in My Greatest Adventure #80. That squad consisted of Robotman, Elasti-Girl, and Negative Man, all of whom have remained fixtures on the Doom Patrol. The team has fought against some of the strangest villains in comics (Animal-Vegetable-Mineral-Man anyone?) and became more popular than ever following Grant Morrison and Richard Case's incredible run on the team, which featured the debuts of Crazy Jane and Danny the Street. In addition, the Doom Patrol has been adapted in a self-titled live-action series on HBO Max, which is currently in its fourth season. Morrison and Case's run on the characters heavily inspires the show.
