Fans like to speculate a lot about what goes into the Batmobile's maintenance, but thanks to a single line from Batman, a goofy plot hole is finally explained.
Very rarely is the Batmobile taken for a ride by someone other than Batman. Even rarer is when that happens without Batman's permission. But when Batman intervenes to save the life of Riddler and Catwoman, they thank him by fleeing the scene in the Batmobile. Riddler is busy bleeding in the backseat, and the pair eventually crash the Batmobile over a cliff.

This all takes place in Batman: Killing Time #3, which was written by Tom King and illustrated by David Marquez. When Batman eventually catches up to the scene of the wreckage, he finds the Batmobile ignited in a fiery blaze. Using his detective skills, Batman is able to deduce that the Batmobile's 14th gas tank exploded upon the first impact of the vehicle's tumble down the cliffside. It is a simple line, but it explains a lot about the legendary car's mechanics and maintenance.
One interesting question about the Batmobile involves its fuel source. It doesn't look like there are any gas pumps inside the Batcave. And it would be pretty ridiculous if Batman just pulled the Batmobile up to a gas station and started filling up. But the fact Batman identifies the 14th gas tank explains a lot. This means that the Batmobile doesn't need to fill up like a regular car. Batman might find gas somewhere, but then he could drive for an extremely long time before he has to fill up again.
