Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios' most recent entry in the series, is currently the highest-rated PC game of all time on both Metacritic en Opencritic.
The third installment in the famous Baldur's Gate videogame series was released on PC after a lengthy early-access period. The game is also slated for a release on PlayStation 5 next month, and an Xbox Series version is also in the works. As covered recently, however, the Xbox version needs more time as the team has difficulties getting split-screen to work on the Xbox Series S.
After its successful launch earlier this month, we already reported that Larian Studios' game managed to break Steam concurrent player records, and the title is currently the top-selling game on Valve's platform. We can safely say that Baldur's Gate 3 is off to a great start, and to give the game even more credit, we wanted to share that the party-based RPG is currently the highest-rated PC game ever on Metacritic and Opencritic - quite the feat. As can be seen in the screenshots from both sites below, the game is rated higher or equally as titles, such as Half-Life 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto V, The Orange Box, Elden Ring, and various other gems.
Not only that but looking at this year's releases, Baldur's Gate 3 is the highest-rated game of the year (on Metacritic) across all platforms, thereby beating Nintendo's hit title The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime Remastered, and the next-gen release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Meanwhile, Opencritic even has the game listed as the highest-rated game in history across all platforms, beating Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, RDR2, Elden Ring, and being on par with Super Mario Odyssey.
