Larian Studios has handed an ‘L’ straight to scalpers by affirming that the Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition is not limited, and there “won’t be stock scarcity” when it ships in early-2024.
Just FYI the Deluxe Edition is *not* a limited edition and stock is holding steady, with more waves being prepared within the Q1 2024 shipping window, so if you see them online being resold based on confirmed preorders at higher prices, skip it. There won’t be stock scarcity.
Michael Douse (a.k.a. “Cromwelp”), director of publishing at Larian Studios, said in a post via Twitter that “stock is holding steady,” and that there will be more waves of shipments “being prepared within the Q1 2024 shipping window.” Douse said this to dissuade anyone from buying the Deluxe Edition from online resellers.
“We confirmed a minimum order but we already blitzed past that in the first day, and the Q1 shipping date allows us to simply increase wave sizes without jeapordizing [sic] the shipping date so we expect any issues within that 4 month buffer window,” Douse continued.
This news comes a short time after Larian announced Baldur’s Gate 3 would be receiving a complete on-disc physical version in the form of a Deluxe Edition. For $79.99, players can net a physical copy of Baldur’s Gate 3, plus a bundle of physical merchandise including a mind flayer poster, a deluxe edition box, an original soundtrack, a world map, 32 stickers and 2 patches.
It makes sense that some might assume this Deluxe Edition to be limited given everything included, but now we can say unequivocally that it’s not. So, don’t give the scalpers the validation and buy from Larian directly. What doesn’t make sense is buying something for $160 that is guaranteed to be half that.
