The nominees for The Game Awards 2023 have been announced.
Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 are both up for eight prizes, ahead of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is up for seven awards.
All three titles are up for the Game of the Year award alongside Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
There are 31 awards up for grabs in total (see the full list of nominees below), with the winners set to be determined by a blended vote between the voting jury (90%), which includes VGC, and public fan voting (10%).
The Game Awards will be streamed live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 7.
Last year’s ninth edition of the annual event was a major production featuring musical performances from an on-stage orchestra and Hozier, celebrity guests, an awards show, new game reveals and more.
Major announcements included the long-anticipated reveals of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 and BioShock creator Ken Levine’s new game Judas.
Other new games announced on the night were Hades 2, a Bayonetta prequel, and Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.
Final Fantasy 16, Diablo 4, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League all received release dates, while Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarök were the biggest winners at the awards show.
