The release date for Netflix’s has been delayed.
Back in Action is a forthcoming Netflix movie that Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. The film was intended to be released on November 15, 2024.
Now, according to Netflix’s Tudum, Back in Action will be available to stream on Netflix on January 17, 2024. It’s not clear why the movie has been pushed back approximately two months.
“Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown,” the logline for the movie reads.
The film is directed by Seth Gordon, who previously made 2008’s Four Christmases, 2011’s Horrible Bosses, 2013’s Identity Thief, and 2017’s Baywatch. Gordon has also directed episodes of Community, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, Atypical, The Good Doctor, The Night Agent, and more.
Gordon co-wrote the script with Brendan O’Brien. Along with Foxx and Diaz, the movie stars Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts, and Rylan Jackson.
Foxx was hospitalized in April 2023 when Back in Action was nearing the end of production. There were rumors of a troubled production happening behind the scenes; however, Diaz discredited these claims when speaking on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, via People, in December 2023.
“I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set at the time,” Diaz said at the time. “You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?’... Jamie is, like, the cheerleader for the entire crew. Everybody loves him. We have so much fun on the set with him and he’s just a professional on every level.”
