Bachelorette: Hayden Defends Calling Gabby 'Rough Around The Edges'
During the Monday, July 25, episode of The Bachelorette, the viewers saw the largest group date in Bachelor Nation history. The group date consisted of a 19 on 2 date, where all but the two guys who received a one-on-one date got a chance to talk to Gabby and Rachel. During the night portion of the date, 29-year-old Hayden Markowitz pulled Gabby aside and told her that he was interested in pursuing Rachel and managed to call her «rough around the edges.»
During the group date, Hayden made his intentions clear to Gabby that he was interested in pursuing Rachel, which she appreciated. However, what Gabby didn't appreciate was being called «rough around the edges.» When it was time to hand out the group date rose, Gabby decided not to hand one out, leaving both Rachel and the men shocked. However, after hearing what went down, Rachel understood and supported her best friend's decision.

According to Page Six, Hayden said, "I may not be the most eloquent with words at times, But I aimed my heart in the direction of my intentions." However, viewers were still quick to call him out on the way he broke the news to the 31-year-old Bachelorette and how he made Gabby feel. Despite this, Gabby faced more rejection as 27-year-old Jacob Rapini told Gabby that he would not have the heart to continue on if she was the sole Bachelorette.
After the date, the ladies decided to cancel the cocktail party and go straight to the rose ceremony, where they decided to change things up.
