Rachel Recchia revealed that before she sent Jordan Vandergriff home on The Bachelorette after their one-on-one date, she checked in with co-Bachelorette Gabby Windey. Jordan and Rachel had a connection on the first night of the show when he told her, «I came here for you.» Rachel chose Jordan for her first one-on-one date of the season, in which they experience zero gravity while flying in a plane. Although Jordan felt a connection with Rachel and began to open up to her at dinner, she began to feel that she did not have chemistry with him.
Even though she felt terrible about it, Rachel eventually told him that she could not give him a rose and sent him home. Rachel was the first lead of The Bachelorette to ever end a relationship with a man on their very first one-on-one date. Bachelor Nation fans fell in love with Jordan, and wondered why he left the show instead of seeing if he had a connection with the other Bachelorette Gabby. Jordan has since expressed that, because he went to the show to meet Rachel, he did not want to switch to Gabby.

On the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast hosted by former Bachelorettes Becca Kufrin and Michelle Young, Rachel revealed that she called Gabby during the one-on-one date to ask her if it was okay if she sent Jordan home. "As it was all happening, I was having a breakdown, I was crying, and I did call up Gabby," co-Bachelorette Rachel explained. «I think people saw a little scene of her because I woke her up from a deep, deep sleep to take my call. But we definitely had a full conversation about it and just decided it was the best decision for both of us.» Gabby explained that she and Rachel had worked things out
