MultiVersus is due to receive at least 19 new characters at some point.
The free-to-play platform fighter launches in open beta on July 26, but early access is currently available to those who played in previous closed tests, those who get codes through Twitch drops and those who buy a Founder’s Pack.
There are three Founder’s Packs available, ranging from a standard $40 pack to a Premium $100 pack, and each contains various in-game items and currency.
Most notably, the Premium Edition comes with 30 ‘Character Tokens’.
New fighters in the game can be unlocked with coins (which can be earned in-game) or Gleamium (which has to be bought with real money).
However, if a player has a Character Token they can instantly unlock the fighter that way instead.
At launch, MultiVersus has a total of 16 characters, 12 of whom are initially locked. Wonder Woman is then unlocked by playing the game’s tutorial.
This leaves 11 locked characters, meaning if players choose to unlock them all with Character Tokens they’ll still have 19 left, implying there are at least that number of fighters on the way.
In May, an alleged list of yet-to-be included characters was shared on Reddit by the person who originally leaked the existence of MultiVersus in the first place. This list included 21 fighters.
According to the leak, the following characters are “mostly finished”, a claim backed up with a large amount of datamined information from the base game including voice lines:
The following list of characters are also reportedly planned for inclusion, but in the early stages of development:
The Founder’s Premium Edition also includes three tokens for Premium Battle Passes, indicating at least three seasons’ worth of content is planned.
