It seems that the rumors were true: Illfonic was indeed working on a Ghostbusters game. The same developers that brought you Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunting Grounds have once again taken their asymmetric shooter formula and applied it to a beloved movie franchise to bring you Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed.
In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, you play as either a member of the Ghostbusters or as a mischievous ghost. As a Ghostbuster, you'll get your mission orders from Winston Zeddemore (voiced by Ernie Hudson, of course), who seems to have taken the reins at Ghostbusters Inc. He'll outfit you with your own Proton Pack, Particle Thrower, and Ghost Trap to head to locations around New York to capture and contain pesky ghosts.

Dan Aykroyd will also reprise his role as Ray Stantz as the owner of Ray's Occult Books. There you'll be able to learn more about ghosts thanks to Tobin's Spirit Guide, an ancient tome that's appeared in every Ghostbusters film.
The objective of the Ghostbusters is to work together to find the ghost using a PKE Meter and then tether it with the Particle Thrower. One Ghostbuster will then have to place the Ghost Trap to capture the ghost.
And as the Ghost, your objective is to avoid the Ghostbusters while completing haunting objectives, which include scaring the populace, sliming locations, and summoning minions. Evading the Ghostbusters isn't easy, but the power of flight and teleportation between rift locations can make things a little easier.
