The iPhone 14 hasn't been off to a great start and Apple has acknowledged a lower demand for the vanilla models. Instead, people are more interested in getting the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, both of which feature the Dynamic Island and all the realistic upgrades. As a result, Apple has already curtailed the production of the regular iPhone 14 production in favour of the Pro models. Now, Apple is said to not increase its production of the iPhone 14 as planned.
Based on a new report from Bloomberg, it is said that Apple has dropped its plans to increase the production of the iPhone 14 by 6 million units. The company will stick to its current quota of 90 million units for the second half of the year, which was the same in 2021. The focus has now shifted to produce more iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max units, which are wooing customers in large numbers.
Demand for the iPhone 14 has not been as per Apple's expectations. This is despite Apple retaining the same prices as last year's iPhone 13. One of the big reasons behind the slump in demand is the iPhone 14 itself, which is basically a mildly updated version of the iPhone 13. For the first time in years, Apple didn't bother to upgrade the chipset from the previous model; the iPhone 14 uses the same Apple A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13 Pro.
Other than the same chip, Apple also retains the same design as the iPhone 13 on the iPhone 14. The display continues to have the smaller notch, and the OLED panel is still limited to just 60Hz refresh rate. The cameras get mild upgrades in terms of sensors and lens setup, but the overall setup remains similar to the iPhone 13.
