Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo just offered more insight into 2024's iPhone 16 — further teasing the phone's 'full-screen' design thanks to new under-display components. As we've seen with some Android smartphones, one of the next big trends looks to be under-display camera technology. Currently, selfie cameras need to be placed in a hole-punch cutout or a notch at the top of the screen. It's a fine solution, but it's also inelegant and takes away from otherwise bezel-less displays. After seeing phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and ZTE Axon 30 5G implement cameras that hide underneath their screens, many folks are wondering when Apple will use this tech on the iPhone.

Following a barrage of recent reports from trusted analysts, it looks like Apple's under-display iPhone isn't too far off. Back on March 30, supply chain analyst Ross Young Tweeted that under-display Face ID would be coming to the iPhone 16. Ming-Chi Kuo reinforced that report on April 2, saying, «My prediction is the same — under-display Face ID coming in 2024.» Fast forward to April 20, and Kuo is now doubling down on that sentiment. Per Kuo's latest Tweet, he says, «I think the real full-screen iPhone will come in 2024. High-end iPhones in 2024 would adopt an under-display front camera alongside the under-display Face ID.»
