When the next Mad Max film finally does hit theaters, it appears that one of its main actors wants to really get into her role. When Anya Taylor-Joy takes the lead in Furiosa,she wants to greatly change her appearance to match the part, though it’s not clear if that will happen.
The sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road is coming down the pike, and Taylor-Joy is going to play Furiosa, the lead protagonist. She’ll be portraying a younger version of the role famed actress Charlize Theron played in the first film of the rebooted franchise.

In addition to her character feeling somewhat similar to the original, Taylor-Joy wants to take a similar approach when it comes to the look of her role. According to Variety, Taylor-Joy wants to shave her head for the lead role so that she can seem to really fit into the world of Furiosa when it launches. However, shaving off her locks isn’t a done deal, as the movie’s costume designer Jenny Beavan told the publication. While the actress is set on shaving her head for the part, creator George Miller isn’t sold.
Beavan went on to say that at the moment, it’s not known whether or not Taylor-Joy will be allowed to shave her head and drastically alter her appearance or whether she might appear different in another way. It turns out there is still quite a bit of time to get this kind of thing nailed down since Furiosa was recently delayed all the way until 2024. For her part, Taylor-Joy isn’t talking about what kind of concessions she has asked for in the upcoming movie.
