One-man developer Shared Memory has announced Animal Well will launch for PS5 on 9th May 2024. It'll cost £20.99 / $24.99 at release.
«I started development on Animal Well seven years ago and spent the majority of my evenings and weekends since that time working on it,» Billy Basso of Shared Memory said. «I quit my day job about two years ago to finish the game and couldn’t be prouder of how the game turned out. This has been my passion for a long time, and I’m so excited to finally share it with the world.»
Animal Well is a 2D Metroidvania game where you're at a big disadvantage. As a small creature, you'll need to learn how to manipulate and take advantage of other wildlife in order to get around them. You can pick up items in a non-linear order to help you along, filling out the map as you go and uncovering secrets at opportune moments. You'll «encounter creatures both beautiful and unsettling, as you attempt to survive what lurks in the dark. There is more than what you see.»
