Somewhere in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community, a player has shared their recreation of a scene from one of the trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo’s desert island life sim has proven to be quite a versatile means for players to express themselves, and it’s been great for paying homage to other franchises as well.
Zelda fans were treated to some long-awaited news this past week regarding The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s upcoming sequel. Following the latest Nintendo Direct, where Tears of the Kingdom’s title and release date were finally announced, excitement for the game has skyrocketed within the community, leading fans to express that excitement in various ways, like pouring over every detail in the newest trailer and, of course, creating fan art. Joining this trend is Reddit user Naydinfar-Crossing, who terraformed their Animal Crossing: New Horizons island to resemble the landscape shown in a shot from Tears of the Kingdom’s second trailer.

Both Breath of the Wild’s original terrain and the sequel’s floating landmasses are faithfully recreated here, with elevated terrain rising above boulders that make for convincing clouds, while rows of stone pyramids serve as solid stand-ins for Hyrule’s distant mountains. Capping things off nicely is the Villager dressed in Link’s new one-sleeved toga outfit, seen overlooking the terrain. Although it’s hardly rare to see Zelda-inspired creations in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the sheer amount of detail and clever touches in Naydinfar’s make for one of the more impressive examples so far.
