It's been over a year since Invincible took the world by storm when it hit Amazon Prime back in March 2021. Not only has there been no new season, but there haven't been that many updates on the show since. Luckily Khary Payton, who voices fellow Guardian of the Globe Black Samson, gave fans a reassuring update that season 2 is, to some capacity, making progress.
Payton admitted that part of the Amazon Prime show's second season is finished. So much so that they have even started some of its next season after that. However, because other aspects of the show's second season have not been finished, that is why fans haven't seen anything new in a year and a half.

In an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Payton admitted that they are done recording audio for Invincible season 2, and have even started recording for season 3, but as of now, there's no return date. «We finished season 2, we're on to season 3. But, it's so hard to say right now,» Payton said. Payton later admitted that the hold-up has been because animation studios have been backed up. «There was a glut of animation studios just trying to get so much done, and literally, it was like projects sitting there with a backpack full of, you know, material being like, 'Any time you're ready.'» Payton made it clear that while he's glad that the next two seasons are in production, he wishes he knew when it would be ready to go. «I honestly can't tell you. I am so glad that they greenlint (seasons) 2 and 3 at the same time because that means that when 3 comes out, it'll feel like just next season, and not a timeline. But it's going to take a while. I wish I could say otherwise.»
