Disney and Pixar have long been hand-in-hand when it comes to animated quality. Barring a few missteps, some small, some Lightyears in the making. That’s why, when one of their projects is a hit, they tend to look for opportunities to expand the world of it, such as they are doing with the as yet untitled sequel to Inside Out.
Fans might not experience feelings of joy when they find out that the sequel to the 2015 Pixar smash, as announced by @PuckNews on Twitter ahead of the D23 expo, won’t be seeing the return of Bill Hader (Barry) as Fear or Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project) as Disgust.

Pixar began as an offshoot of Industrial Light and Magic, better known as ILM, the major Hollywood effects studio started by George Lucas so he could add the effects to his original Star Wars films. After doing work on the live-action movie Young Sherlock Holmes before going on to create their own award-winning shorts, get taken up by Apple, then finally bought by Disney, nobody knew how big they’d be or that the entire animation industry would be reformed in their wake. But with Pixar’s fortunes being up and down as of late, it’s no wonder they’ve been turning to some old wells to expand the worlds they’ve created and Inside Out is the latest in a long line of projects (Cars, Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Finding Dory amongst them).
There’s no word on the story as of yet, or if the second movie will even follow the story of Riley or her parents—and with the years in between, the budding teenager would now be a grown woman rife with all the emotions adults experience—but one thing that has been reported is that, at least so far, Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling
