NBC has announced the premiere date and judges for America's Got Talent season 17. The competition series premiered in 2006, with none of the original judges remaining. Following the original AGT panel of Piers Morgan, Brandy Norwood and David Hasselhoff, stars like Sharon Osbourne, Howard Stern and Mel B have judged AGT. Sharon, Howard and Mel are among the panelists who stayed on the show for several seasons. Every judge has stayed for at least two seasons, with the exception of Brandy, who left after season 1, and Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough only judging season 14. In addition to the rotating cast of judges, there have been several hosts of AGT. The late Regis Philbin, who only hosted the first season, was followed by Jerry Springer for seasons 2 and 3, Nick Cannon in seasons 4-11 and Tyra Banks in seasons 12 and 13. The latest host to join was Terry Crews in season 14.
For the past two seasons of America's Got Talent, the judging panel consisted of Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell. Howie joined the show in season 5 and has since become the longest-serving AGT judge. Heidi Klum, who joined in season 8 and left after season 13, returned for season 15 and has yet to leave again. Sofia started judging in season 15, and Simon, who created AGT and produces the competition series, took his seat on the panel in season 11. Terry has hosted the last two seasons with this panel of judges. He also hosted both seasons of AGT: The Champions and most recently hosted the show's latest spin-off, AGT: Extreme.
