Twitch users are going to start seeing a new "Play on Luna" button appearing soon as Amazon delivers on a promise it made two years ago.
As 9To5Google reports, when the Luna cloud gaming service was announced back in 2020, Amazon said players would eventually be able to see Twitch streams from within Luna, but also that you'd have the option to instantly start playing a game you're watching on Twitch. That's now starting to happen with a new "Play on Luna" button appearing on select Twitch streams.
Amazon hasn't officially announced this new Twitch feature yet, but in order to see the button you need to have a Luna account linked to your Twitch account. Once that's done, the button should appear, but only on streams for games available on the Luna service.
The Nerf Report posted a video on YouTube demonstrating how the button works and loads the Luna service with a single click. Host Bryant Chappel also speculates that Amazon could allow Twitch streamers to earn revenue from streaming Luna games and encouraging viewers to join them in the game using Luna. There's also the prospect of this "Play on Luna" feature eventually appearing on Amazon as an alternative to buying physical or digital copies, although publishers may have a big problem with that.
Amazon Luna is currently available for the early access price of $5.99 per month with a growing number of games available. There's also a family channel option for $2.99 per month, which is limited to E and E10+ games, and Ubisoft+ can be added for an extra $17.99 per month.
