As Wordle has exploded in popularity over the past few months, the number of similar games taking a page out of the popular word game's book has similarly ballooned with many similar ideas bringing their own spin to the daily word puzzles. Games like Lewdle have looked to spice up the word pool available in the game while other spinoffs like Octordle and Quardle have taken different approaches by tasking players with guessing multiple words in one game. Now, the newest clone combines the word puzzles with one of gaming's most popular franchises, but not for the first time.
Wordle has been a social media sensation since the game rose to popularity early on in 2022 with the addition of sharing features for the game. The simplistic daily word game has inspired plenty of passionate fans to create their own Wordle clone to ride the game's surge of popularity. Pokemon, in particular, has seen its own spinoff of Wordle with the aptly-named Squirdle featuring any of Pokemon's 898 creatures from the franchise's history. Now, the newest Pokemon-themed spinoff sporting a similar name has added a new piece of flavor in keeping with the franchise that inspired it.

Similar to its fellow Pokemon guessing game, the newly-released Sqwordle created by Nathan Fretz, going by the Reddit username of thecrumpking, tasks players with guessing from Pokemon's original Kanto roster of 151 creatures by associating the selections with different moves. Each guess will narrow down the pool of selections as the Pokemon will use a new move from its available learnset with the game graying out Pokemon that no longer fit the criteria.
