The craze around Wordle doesn't seem to be slowing down any despite the fact that it's been around for quite a while now. In fact, that craze has led to more than a few Wordle clones getting released over the last few weeks, with the latest one being a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
The free word game, that gives users six tries to solve a daily word, has been massively popular, especially on social media. In fact, the game was so popular that the New York Times recently purchased Wordle for an undisclosed amount that is said to be «low seven figures.» It seems that there are quite a few developers out there that are hoping they can cash in the popularity of that game by at least getting attention on their own. The new Nintendo Switch clone is also trying to cash in by charging at least a little bit of cash for its version.

Words With Freds is the latest Wordle Clone though it's not relying on getting word of mouth through online browsers. Instead, this particular game popped up in the Nintendo eShop and is available for digital download for the Nintendo Switch for $1.
It appears the game's name also happens to be a nod towards another popular word game that once gained quite a bit of notoriety thanks to iOS and Google Play users who downloaded Words with Friends to their mobile devices. While the name might be a nod to Words with Friends, it's very clearly supposed to be thought of as very similar to Wordle considering how the game is played.
