Sadly, Dark Souls PC servers have been offline for over 90 days now due to a security issue: that’s over three months of downtime for multiple games (Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls 3). In a statement posted on February 9, the publisher provided the following insight: “Due to the time required to set up proper testing environments, online services for the Dark Souls series on PC will not resume until after the release of Elden Ring. I’m happy to confirm that the developers are actively working on resolving the issue in question and re-launching the Dark Souls servers for PC as soon as possible. For the moment, we do not have an estimate of when this is expected to happen, however I encourage you to follow us on social media here to stay up to date with all the latest news. Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.”
It’s a boilerplate response, but it still clues us into a few things. One: there is no window available for when the servers will come back, at least that a customer service rep is able to provide. Two: the issues are still being worked out and aren’t abandoned, as of May 9, 2022.
