Adam Sandler shows his support for comedian Chris Rock after the Will Smith slap incident at the 2022 Academy Awards. Rock, who was presenting an award, made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s shaved head; comparing her to the 1997 Demi Moore film G.I Jane. While the joke got laughs initially, Smith soon took to the stage to strike the comedian, before returning to his seat and shouting “Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth!”. Rock was supposedly unaware that Jada’s hairstyle was a result of Alopecia. Smith later won the Best Actor Oscar and tearfully apologized for his violent outburst. While the moment has gone viral, many people feel Smith should’ve been stripped of his award or that he should face consequences for what was, essentially, an assault on live TV.
Sandler, who is famous for his extensive comedy filmography, has a great working relationship with Rock. The two have starred together in several of Sandler’s films; notably the two Grown-Ups movies; which were built around the camaraderie of the close and friendly actors involved. While the care-free star is not usually one to comment on controversial issues, he has always kept a strong circle of fellow comedy-actors as his friends and collaborators.

Now, the actor has taken to Twitter to seemingly voice his support for his friend. Rather than directly reference the actions of Smith, Sandler instead posts a promotional image for Rock’s upcoming stand-up tour Ego Death. Paired with the image is a short message, reading “Can’t wait for this. Love you buddy!”.
