Adam Sandler has officially confirmed his reunion with Uncut Gems directors Josh and Benny Safdie (collectively known as the Safdie brothers) on a new film project. Sandler made a name for himself starring in comedies during the '90s and more recently in his straight-to-streaming productions, but his role as the gambling-addicted NYC jeweler Howard Ratner in Uncut Gems proved the actor had the chops to take more dramatic roles. The 2019 crime-thriller was a massive success with critics, and despite being snubbed at the Oscars, Sandler and the Safdie brothers still managed to pick up Independent Spirit Awards for Best Male Lead and Best Director respectively. Rumors were already swirling earlier in April that Sandler was teaming up with the Safdies again to make a new movie that so far has kept all plot and production details under wraps.

Sandler himself confirmed exclusively to EW that the rumors were true that he was working on a new movie with the Safdies, but he kept tight-lipped on any further details. What he did do was praise the work ethic of the Safdie brothers, who he claims have been hard at work writing and thinking of new ideas since the success of Uncut Gems. He continued on to give the diplomatic answer that he didn't know what specific details he was allowed to say, but that the new project was "different" and "gonna be very exciting."
