Accessibility Tags Rolling Out Across PS Store This Week | Push Square
Sony has announced the PS Store will be updated with accessibility tags this week, allowing select PS5 games to detail the options they have before the title is bought. Vital for disabled gamers, supported titles will let you press the Triangle button on the marketplace to view a list of accessibility options, broken down into a wide range of categories. Over 50 accessibility tags will be broken down into six categories: visual, audio, subtitle and caption, control, gameplay, and online communication. They're only viewable on a PS5 console, and the games supporting accessibility tags from this week are:
Sony is working with a «wide range of developers» to bring support for accessibility tags to more games on the PS Store, viewable in their very own game hubs. «Together with the wide array of accessibility settings within the PS5 console UI, Accessibility Tags will empower you to personalize your PS5 gaming experience to your individual gameplay needs.»
The firm also takes the chance to remind PS5, PS4 players of Project Leonardo, a dedicated accessibility controller in the works at Sony. Still in development, the platform holder hasn't shared any new details since its announcement at the start of this year, but it's designed to open up «new ways of gaming» and address common challenges disabled gamers face. Sony has been an advocate for accessibility in gaming for years now, with recognition from the industry taking the form of awards for The Last of Us: Part I and God of War Ragnarok.
