DC has revealed that the Justice League’s Blue Beetle has become a rival of Lex Luthor! In a preview for The Human Target #4, on sale in print and digital January 25, Christopher Chance pays a call on Blue Beetle, who reveals that he has been fighting an ongoing war against Luthor, who wishes to take the Beetle’s technology for himself.
While Blue Beetle may be known to most as the inspiration for Night Owl in Watchmen, he has a long and rich history. There have been several Blue Beetles over the years, Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes being the most noteworthy. Kord, the second Blue Beetle, is a tech genius who, through his various companies, creates the technology he uses in his fight against evil. Blue Beetle was once a member of the Justice League, during the infamous “Justice League International” era, alongside others such as Booster Gold, Fire, Ice and Guy Gardner. Recently, someone tried to kill Lex Luthor, and when Christopher Chance, the Human Target, was brought in, he discovered that someone from the Justice League International era was the culprit. Chance, who has been poisoned with less than a week to live, is now on a desperate race against time to find who tried to kill Luthor, and his quest takes him straight to Kord Industries. The issue is written by Tom King, illustrated by Greg Smallwood and lettered by Clayton Cowles.
