A Quiet Place Part III needs to break the franchise's story formula. With both this sequel and a spinoff confirmed, it's now apparent that the horror series is morphing into a franchise. For that to truly succeed, however, it's going to need to shake things up sooner rather than later.
The first two installments of the A Quiet Place franchise have followed the Abbott family as they try to survive the onslaught of an extraterrestrial apocalypse. The first film is self-contained and focused on the character drama. The second film, while still keeping the Abbotts as a focal point (except for Quiet Place's Lee following his death in the first film,) expands the world substantially, introducing new characters like Cillian Murphy's Emmett, who showed how others in the world have survived.

For the most part, A Quiet Place II was an effective sequel that didn't detract from the first. However, its attempts to expand the world further felt a bit underdeveloped. This notion stemmed from the fact that A Quiet Place II repeated many elements and tense situations already used in the original movie. The underdeveloped reception was also prevalent with the island sequence, which appeared towards the end of the movie and didn't get enough time to be fleshed out. The most information viewers received was through the conversation Emmett had with the leader, who explained the chaos that occurred as people tried to get on boats to reach the island. While it's likely that the upcoming Quiet Place spin-off could cover the island's origins, there certainly could've been a little more done within Part II.
