90 Day Fiancé: Ben Gets Real About Instagram Filters Amid Mahogany Scandal
90 Day Fiancé star Ben Rathbun reveals his real feelings about Instagram filters amidst accusations he's too blind to see Mahogany Roca is using them. 52-year-old Ben finally landed in Peru to meet Mahogany, 24, on episode 8 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days despite her ghosting him. Even Mahogany asking Ben not to come to Peru at all didn’t stop him. Despite ignoring her wishes, Ben felt betrayed when Mahogany didn’t show up at the airport to receive him. He admitted he became “absolutely numb and incredibly sad” when Mahogany stood him up. While wiping his tears, Ben revealed he's uncertain about the relationship's future.
Ben suspects there is just a 3 percent chance that Mahogany is not Mahogany. However, the signs of Mahogany being a catfish have always been there, especially since she sweet-talked him into giving her a loan of $1000. Ben's friends and even kids have also flagged Mahogany's excessive use of filters and photoshopping her pictures. Even though Ben thinks he has something real and spiritual going on with Mahogany after their three months of “intimate texting,” it can’t be denied that Mahogany is a fan of filters and if not, is someone else entirely.

In his latest Instagram post after a week-long social media break, Ben offered his thoughts on how people use the platform and filters specifically. He pointed out that most users only share their «best side.» To illustrate his point, Ben posted aphoto of himself he made using a cartoon app that he claims focuses only on the positive parts of an individual's appearance.
