State Bank of India launched SBI KIsan Credit Card to provide farmers financial assistance at a very low interest rate. Under this scheme, farmers can avail loans of up to ₹3 to 4 lakhs at a very low interest of 7% per annum. Additionally, they can also avail a subvention of 2.00% per annum on loans up to Rs. 3.00 lakh. They can spend the loan amount for farming equipment or food and seeds. SBI Kisan Credit card was introduced by SBI to provide loans to farmers for the purchase of agricultural commodities including fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides, among other things. The main aim of this scheme is to eliminate the need of farmers to borrow money from moneylenders who charge arbitrary interest and exploit them.

Any individual farmer, joint cultivator owners, Tenant farmers, oral lessees and sharecroppers etc., can apply for this credit card. Self Help Groups and Joint liability groups including tenant farmers can also avail SBI Kisan credit card.
