343 Industries has started testing online co-op and replayable missions for Halo Infinite.
The latest Halo title debuted without these franchise mainstays in December 2021. 343 Industries said(Opens in a new window) at the time that it planned to update Halo Infinite with these features in the future, and seven months after the game's release, the company is finally ready to start public testing.
Enter the Network Co-Op Flight. 343 Industries says that Halo Infinite players on Xbox and PC will have access to online co-op and replayable missions until the flight ends on Aug. 1. Testing isn't available to all players, however. The company explains(Opens in a new window) on its support website:
The Steam flight is only available to players who received an invite. If you received an invite, your Steam key will be available on Halo Waypoint(Opens in a new window).
The Xbox flight is only available for players who are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass, or players who have purchased Halo Infinite’s Campaign. To access network co-op, players must also have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, which is included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
343 Industries has shared more information about how it's handling online co-op in Halo Infinite in a blog post(Opens in a new window). The company says that it had to create an "Area-Of-Operations" to make sure players stick together in the sprawling overworld, for example, and figure out how to adapt to every player's in-game progress despite the lack of a traditional mission-based structure.
