The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra has been launched and it's a solid smartphone with flagship components at a price that's more affordable than its competitors. The most notable feature about the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is its great screen, unblemished by the typical hole punch or unsightly notch. While several other manufacturers make the same claim, ZTE is one of the few that can truly boast about offering a smartphone that is all-screen.
ZTE was the first brand in the world to cover the selfie punch-hole when it launched the Axon 20 in September 2020. A logical conclusion to the ever-shrinking, front-facing camera housing, the under-display selfie camera goes a step further than under-display fingerprint readers to actually see through the active pixels of the smartphone's display. Unfortunately, the technology was a bit too new and photo quality suffered, but there have been significant improvements in the last few years.

The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra comes in two configurations, one with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage for $799, and a top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage for $899, both without a microSD card slot for storage expansion. ZTE is also offering $50 in savings when the Axon 40 Ultra is pre-ordered from its website. A token payment of $1.99 is required to secure a place in line and qualify for the discount, which lowers the total cost to $751 or $851, depending on the variant. The discount coupon will be valid for a period of two weeks. Pre-orders for ZTE's Axon 40 Ultra start on June 8, 2022, and end on June 21, 2022, which is when the Axon 40 Ultra will be released.
