Gathering materials in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will often fill out the many hours of a playthrough, especially when trying to complete the laundry list of quests available in the game. However, without finding ways to duplicate materials in Breath of the Wild, it can sometimes take hours to find everything needed to complete any specific side quest.
In the case of one specific material in Breath of the Wild, a player has found an interesting way to quickly farm for wood without having to chop down an entire forest. Instead, it would appear that the trick is to let NPCs do the majority of the work and come collect the materials after the fact.

Shared on the Breath of the Wild subreddit, user MmgLel starts off at the Rito Stable and heads over to the large collections of logs kept to the side and behind the stables. Then it's just a matter of slashing at these logs with any Breath of the Wild weapon in order to be rewarded with a huge pile of wood for the effort. So, instead of having to cut down one of Hyrule's forests in order to grab all the wood a player might need for any given task, they can grab from this stockpile that replenishes over time from the efforts of an NPC.
This method of picking up wood could be especially useful for the sidequests involving Bolson Construction company, such as buying a house for Link or building Breath of the Wild's Terry Town. While the stockpile of wood obtained from clearing out Rito Stable isn't enough to complete these tasks on its own, it could give a player a head start with a decent amount of the material.
