News reaches us of a rather bizarre pre-order bonus for our pals over in the United States who want to buy The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
If you pre-order the game from Gamestop, you’ll get wood. Specifically, a small plank which seems to be the same height of a Switch game case, so a girthy 7″ of firm wood.
The pre-order will set you back $69.99. This is $10 higher than any Nintendo first party game on Switch to date.
The game was officially titled in May 2022 although a gameplay reveal trailer from E3 2021 showed some off the epic new sky island gameplay that will see Link adventuring high in the sky, skydiving, and using an ability to transform into a drop of water.
Nintendo closed out the recent Nintendo Direct stream with a fresh gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and it’s still locked in for a 12th May 2023 release date.
The trailer showcases a lot of the world changes that the latest disaster to befall Hyrule has made to the kingdom’s terrain, with floating island a particularly distinctive feature. Much more importantly, it also gives us glimpses of new Sheikah abilities, manipulating the world and objects in different ways, as well as a bunch of new vehicles that go far beyond the motorbike that was added in the Breath of the Wild DLC. It’s exciting stuff!
Additionally, amiibo fans will be delighted to hear that a Tears of the Kingdom Link amiibo will also be coming out.
