The world now has another life-size Gundam statue. This one immortalizes the Nu Gundam, or RX-93ffν Gundam, itself a modified version of the RX-93 Gundam from the movie Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.
Fans of the film will note some slight differences between the movie version and the statute that was just unveiled at the Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport in Fukuoka. The first is that it has slightly different colors than the movie version, and the second is the single large fin attached at the rear. The Nu Gundam in the film featured multiple fins, but as pointed out by Forbes, that represented a significant hazard in a country that suffers frequent typhoons. Rather than build a massive windbreak that could topple the statue into a busy shopping mall, Nu Gundam was altered slightly to be a little less hazardous.

Fukuoka's Nu Gundam statue now joins another Gundam statue in Yokohama, as well as a third in Shanghai. There’s also a statute of Unicorn Gundam in Tokyo.
