Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a game about synergy. Not only does its narrative embrace the themes of harmony and setting aside time-bound grievances to work together as one, but its class-based combat system rewards players who recognize why it's important to synergize certain Arts and Skills.

It's true of the attacker role, it's true of the tank role, and it's absolutely the case with the healer role as well — you can get by mostly adequately without much intermingling, but the greatest healer classes in the game are built through the combination of key talents and a few staple tips and tricks.
Every class in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has inherent value. There are no truly dire picks. Given the number of choices, that's pretty impressive. But if there's no chaff to separate the proverbial wheat from, there's still enough of a hierarchy to separate the great from the merely good.
Among the game's eight total healer classes, our favorites are these three: War Medic, Strategos, and Lifesage. But we're going to leave Lifesage by the wayside for the purposes of this guide, replacing it with the alternatively rad Thaumaturge, because Lifesage is only available as a postgame pickup. (The class more than makes up for this fact by being borderline broken. It's a complete menace.)
You won't need to worry about missing the War Medic class. Its associated Hero character, Valdi, will join the team in Chapter Three as part of the main story.
