Video game movies have undergone quite a resurgence over the course of the past half a decade or so. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is now the highest-grossing video game movie ever at the US box office, and during the height of the pandemic, we were treated to a fresh take on a big-screen adaptation of Mortal Kombat. It's nailed on that the fighting game movie will be getting a sequel, and when that time comes, The Miz wants to be Johnny Cage.
During an appearance on the Out Of Character podcast (via IGN) the WWE Superstar revealed he has already been hard at work perfecting the role, even though he hasn't even been cast yet. “I was like, if they want that to happen, I need to basically make sure that I am prepared and ready if that opportunity presents itself,” Miz said.

By “they”, The Miz means his fans. Cage wasn't a part of the last Mortal Kombat movie. That led to so many fans calling for Miz to be cast as the OG character should he appear in a sequel that it even got the attention of Mortal Kombat creator, Ed Boon. For what it's worth, Boon is on board, making it even more likely that when we do see a movie adaptation of Cage, it will be The Miz who's playing him.
Casting Miz in the Cage role really would make all the sense in the world. For those unfamiliar with the Mortal Kombat fighter's backstory, Cage is an over-the-top action movie star with a penchant for kicking people in the face. The Miz's WWE persona is effectively the same thing, except he wrestles to win matches rather than kicks people in an attempt to kill them. Miz has been working on his kicks in preparation for that hypothetical call to be Cage in a sequel, though.
Thanks to the success
