Worms, the classic turn-based artillery game, is once again available for pre-order on the Game Boy, SNES, and SEGA Genesis. Worms was originally released way back in 1995 for the Amiga and is the first entry in the long-running series of the same name. It has since been released on several platforms including the PC, PlayStation, Game Boy, SEGA Genesis, SNES, and more. A Worms remake was also made and released in 2007 for the Xbox 360 and 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and iOS.
The Worms series has released several titles since the franchise was first started, many of which have kept the same turn-based artillery gameplay. However, several spin-offs that have attempted to change the game’s formula have been released as well. Back in 2020, developer Team17 attempted to take a piece of the popular battle-royale genre with the release of the 2.5D action game Worms Rumble. While the game received some praise for its gameplay, which veered away from its roots, Worms Rumble failed to capture a dedicated audience, which made it difficult for players to find matches in the game’s PvP only modes.

The new Worms pre-order was announced by Limited Run Games and will be available only until April 10, 2022. Fortunately, there is no purchase limit for the game, so those interested in grabbing a copy won’t have to worry about running out before the deadline. According to Limited Run Games, once the pre-order period has concluded, it will take around eight to nine months before the product ships to buyers.
