With March midway through, World of Warcraft pulled back the curtain on Patch 10.2.6 and revealed that the anticipated «Pirate Patch» would arrive on Tuesday, March 19. Though little remains known about the next World of Warcraft update, Blizzard stated that 10.2.6 would feature a limited-time event for players to try out.
First teased in the 2024 roadmap for World of Warcraft, Patch 10.2.6 was not given a title, and was slotted between the Seeds of Renewal update and Dragonflight Season 4. While Season 4 will not launch immediately with Patch 10.2.6, Blizzard stated that the season would start several weeks after the patch went live. Furthermore, Blizzard added that once Dragonflight Season 4 begins, the «Ahead of the Curve» achievement for completing the Amirdrassil raid tier on Heroic or Mythic difficulty would no longer be obtainable. This means that raid guilds and players looking to take down Fyrakk on the highest difficulties will not have much time to finish it.
However, World of Warcraft players will soon have some more content to dive into. On Tuesday, March 19, Patch 10.2.6 will go live. According to a Blizzard blog post, the content update will include a limited-time event but did not reveal any additional details beyond that. Though Patch 10.2.6 was not featured in the public test realm (PTR) during development, Blizzard stated that it was to keep its contents hidden until launch. A PTR update that will include testing for Dragonflight Season 4's instanced content will be made at a later date, and the season will begin several weeks after the patch is out. Patch 10.2.6 will then be followed up by Patch 10.2.7, Dark Heart, and The War Within alpha test, in the coming weeks.
